didnt have lessons 2day..
went to sch at 12 pm, returned electric guitar to lennon.. went to find shah at video lab.. went for the IT Security Awareness Day thing at MLT 12..

program was alright, except for certain programs.. i.e. the social worker who came to talk about the social effects of online chatting and blogging.. which i really have to say, was totally irrelevant to what IT security is all about. the presentation seemed like it was prepared for some primary sch or secondary sch assembly, where the point was to warn people about not meeting up with online friends.. in an effort to tell those people stupid enough to think that online identities are real, that meeting online friends is not good.. oh well.. if that wasnt bad enough, the speaker started telling us that we shouldnt spend so much time on computers! lol...
i mean, SMIT students come to sch everyday to use the computer! thats what we study here..
examples like, "having your mother nag at you to eat dinner and study... not to use computer so much!! etc... "
reasons for students in secondary schools who have their exams to worry about..
and she deems that people who use instant messaging dont have a real life.. chatting online with ur friends is not having a real life... -_-"
if i chat with my girlfriend(real) online, its not having a real life? *ponders*
in the presentation, she mentioned that blogging wasnt good!! citing reasons such as 'posting information online' and blogs being a source for phishers..
examples given were: "i am going out with 2day... we are meeting at blk*** tampines st ** at 2pm... etc."
which thick-headed blogger would be so hardworking as to give so much details out? obviously one who expects somebody to read it.. lol.
furthermore, she ended her presentation by promoting eGen(eration), a local self supported group which provides a buddy system online.. something like multiply.. but its supposed to be filled with genuine people. she was also happily promoting "online journals" where you can "add" friends and moderate the publicity of your posts with "passwords" and such... WAIT A MINUTE, what was it that she said about blogs? lol... funny presentation.

on a happier note, a speaker from microsoft presented on hacking.. great accent.. obviously an ABC.. lol. he demostrated different hacking attacks e.g. buffer overflow, SQL injection, xURL etc.. people mostly enjoyed the way he demonstrated the hacking process.. think everybody will be wanted to do "ethical hacking" as an elective next sem. hohoho.

went to Lot 1 to eat dinner... was planning to watch movie with shenghao and chelmin.. played arcade, ate ice cream.. chelmin went home.. shenghao and i decided to catch the 9.30 show for casino royale.. ncie nice.. hehe..

i miss jasmine!!! hehehe..
