My Europe Trip
ok. For those who didnt know and for those who know, i was away touring europe for the past 2 weeks since 8th June. Main purpose of the trip was to go visit my "beloved" sister in europe and also because this would be the last time i go on a holiday with my family before i enlist(not sure when that would be though). I won't go into much detail regarding the events of the trip. I'll probably just give my thoughts on them. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves..
ok first stop
Changi Airport: Yes yes, how mundane. our favourite airport in the whole of Singapore. The priciest wan ton noodles and carrot cake in town. probably swindling the ang moh's of all their money. It is also the only place u find credit card machines in fast food restaurants. The area outside the departure gates have been quite the same throughout these years. But within the departure gates, things are different. You have lovely DFS shops in there and alot of ->
lovely right? hahaha.. yea, so basically, i was on a British Airways Quantas flight. yep, they are the same company. standard procedures, check your hand carry luggage, tear your ticket, board the plane, get seated and wait for the plane to take off. Ok the plane took off..
2nd stop
London: I touched down at London Heathrow airport at about 7am london time. for those who havent been there, 7 am is probably the time they wake up for work. haha. I took the underground express to paddington station in central london. From there, my family and I took a approx 40min hike to the hostel where we were staying, along with all the luggage. So after checking in, we went to meet my grandmother and uncle who were waiting for us at paddington station. oopps.. im describing too much.. nvm..
Basically, london is the city where many people would scratch their heads at british humour. no problem for me there. They have a really extensive underground transport system. The Tube is really frequent even with delays and jams. But it will get you around quick enough. Shopping there is cheap if you know where to look and what to look for. Soccer equipment is best found there. With brands like adidas, diadora, umbro, it's often 3 times cheaper there than here. well, brands like Oakley and stuff from Gap are cheaper there, but still oh so expensive. Branded goods larr. yep.. so bought alot of londsdale stuff.. it's cheap there. duh.. The sports house that i went to was having a sale. OP Stuff were going at a fraction of Singpore prices.
The palaces and castles in England hold a whole of history. The Windsor palace was amazing. The most aweing item was the Queen's Doll House. Everything in there was like how it was in the Windsor Palace. Everything is a scaled minature which work. Even the cars work on petrol and the vacuum cleaners actually work on electricity. Yep london was great but smoggy. The amount of smoke there in a day by people is like a honda with a dirty extractor pumping out smoke in a year. They smoke cigerattes in the day and shishas at night. Night life is all about cyber cafe surfing and shisha smoking.
At the end of the three nights i spent there, i took the euro-star to paris, france..
3rd stop...
Paris: Well, i thought london was dirty... paris is even worse. They love to flood their streets and roads every morning. not sure why though.. maybe to aid the cars in drifting. lol. Paris is very active in the day. People walking about. However, the bad street lighting gives me the creeps at night. Their roads are usually quite narrow and the roads have no lane markings. However, it is the best place in the world to get lamb and steak. It is absolutely heavenly. Cheap too.. It's like 9 euros for a lamb entre from Chartier. thats 18SGD and it is the best lamb i have ever had...
So paris is famous for its eiffel tower and the arc de triomphe. yep.. i had to stand in the middle of the road just to take a good picture of it. lol
paris was quite fun though. speaking in french is not exactly one of my know-hows, but it'll do.
i left paris after 2 nights.
4th stop...
Trier: This was a transit station for us to go on to Cologne (english) aka Köln (auf deutsch). So in Trier, we went to see places like Karl Marx's birthplace and the where Constantine was staying in europe. We spent a few hours here.. just walking around and viewing sites..
left after 4 hours.
5th stop...
Köln: Köln is a fun place. The main attraction here is the river which the town is situated beside. A whole lot of history. The famous Dom is there. yea. so basically, it was a place for us to catch some sun and wind. Lovely place.. quite peaceful.. Stayed there for one night..
6th stop...
Wurzburg: That's where my sister is studying. So we met here, dumped our stuff at an apartment we rented and off we went for lunch. It's the worst place to shop in germany cuz there's nothing there.. Maybe a sport megastore but thats it.. goshh.. alot of women's clothing though.. shoes and clothes are cheap there. IT STUFF IN GERMANY IS FREAKING EX!! DONT BUY! so i stayed there for 2 nights. spending both nights at my sister's place talking, eating..
7th Stop..
Luxemburg: An independent neutral state on its own. Its relatively young. It only began industrialisation in the 1990s but it is already producing the world's best steel. The area around the country is so peaceful.. With alot of heritage, luxemburg is by far the more surreal country in the world.
8th stop...
Basel: This is the best part of europe that i have ever been too.. The transport system there is the most convenient ever.. The number of trams and buses around take you everywhere. The Marktplatz, or marketplace/city centre is so comfortable. Bustling with activity yet serene. It appears that they have a music university.. with a place so lovely, i wanna go there!! yep yep.. lovely place.. i'll post some pictures up later.
9th stop..
Frankfurt: You all know this place. Its the capital of Germany.. or issit? i can't remember.. nvm. Really surprised at this place. cuz i was staying in the red light district. I walked out of the train station and i saw all the cabarets around.. garrr.. even the TV had free sex channels... -_-.. hahaha Sleazy!!!!
we went shopping in the shopping area. duhx. i bought alot of clothes from newyorker.. lol. nvm..
so after 1 night there, it was time to go home. we took the train to frankfurt main flughafen (airport la) from there, we took a british transit flight to london. Yea, from heathrow in london, i did some duty free shopping. bought a new swatch watch.. real cool la.. then it was the long 12 hour flight back to singapore. yep.. did more dfs shopping back here..
haha.. here i am back in singapore. im perspiring like mad because i have already adapted to the weather there.. its so cooling la.. its so bloody hot here.. lol.. oh well..
hope you guys enjoyed reading this post as i have enjoyed typing it for u...
